Jack Astor's Bar and Grill readies the exterior for a Grand Opening coming this Spring. This is one of several exciting new developments at Pickering Town Centre, 1355 Kingston Road, Pickering. Located at the north/east corner of the shopping mall at Kingston Road and Glenanna, the well known restaurant chain is a welcome addition to the culinary scene in Pickering’s emerging downtown.

he Picore office towers form the back drop for façade work now under construction at Pickering Town Centre’s latest new development. Target is adding another 20,000 square feet to accommodate this flagship store in Downtown Pickering, 1355 Kingston Road.

Crafty Pickering residents will be happy to see foundation walls being poured to support a new, 18,500 sf, freestanding Michael’s store. Located at the new commercial centre in Pickering’s Town Centre West, Michael’s joins the many new offices and retailers at 1105 Kingston Road, Pickering. Look for news on the many Grand Openings as they happen throughout early 2013, including CiGusto!, and West Durham Family Health Team.

JMPH Holdings have broken ground at 1635 Bayly Street - with the first 2 structures of a mixed use development now being clad. The project includes 5 commercial buildings totalling 27,587 sf and 1 industrial facility of 56,456 sf. The development is located just 2 blocks from the Brock Road interchange at Highway 401.

Downtown office towers form a backdrop to construction of a 6 storey, 509,000 sf parking deck, located at the south east corner of the Pickering GO Station. The deck will provide much needed parking relief for GO commuters. It's also in direct proximity to the pedestrian bridge crossing Highway 401, that lands at the new Durham Region Transit bus lay by on Pickering Parkway. Thanks to Long & McQuade, 1887 Kingston Road is getting a new face, as they prepare to open their first retail store in Pickering. The store will offer a full range of instrument sales, rentals and music lessons.

Siemens' wholly owned subsidiary, Trench Canada Instrument Transformers anticipates completion of a 190,000 sf facility to house high-tech manufacturing, R&D and LEED-certified office space. First Gulf is pressing to complete the facility for occupancy in fall 2012. This project brings 350 prestige jobs to Pickering's growing EN3 cluster.

Benches and shelters await Durham Region Transit commuters at the new bus lay by on Pickering Parkway. Buses should begin rolling through the new location on September 4, 2012. Located at the north landing of the enclosed pedestrian bridge, commuters can look forward to more timely bus connections.
Be sure to check out the sidewalk medallion near the bridge entrance, commemorating Pickering's Bicentennial.

The Pickering Learning Site is one of the latest investments in Downtown Pickering. Located at the base of the new office tower at 1340 Pickering Parkway, this post-graduate facility is a joint project of Durham and Centennial colleges. Students attending the 8,000 sf facility this fall, will have direct access to local transit and the Pickering GO Station via the enclosed pedestrian bridge across Highway 401.

TD Canada Trust is adding to the ongoing transformation of Downtown Pickering with a two storey, 12,000 sf facility at 1790 Liverpool Road. The new bank site is located within steps of the Picore Office towers, the Pickering Town Centre, Loblaws Marketplace and a new GO Transit parking structure.

Duffin Heights, Pickering's newest neighbourhood, is a hive of activity. Mattamy Homes on the east side of Brock Road at William Jackson Drive, puts on final touches to 227 detached singles and 68 townhouses. Early occupants brave the spring mud to enjoy their new homes. View construction photo.
Also, coming soon, Coughlan Homes is pouring foundations directly to the east. Full approvals are imminent for 128 detached and 24 townhouses.

Aspect Retail Logistics, located at 1400 Church Street, has begun construction of a 200,000 square-foot expansion to their warehouse. Once completed, this facility will offer nearly 1 million square feet of state-of-the-art, third party logistics services and create a further 200 jobs in the City of Pickering.
February 2012Phase 3 of the commercial development at Walnut Lane & Kingston Road is framed and getting ready to welcome its first tenants. Michael's, CiGusta! and South St. Burgers will be among the first new neighbours to open their doors next to Shoppers Drug Mart, Home Depot and Future Shop.
