Role

The Pickering Accessibility Advisory Committee was established by by-law 6211/03, and held its first meeting in April 2003. At least half of the Committee must include members of the disabled community.

2012 Accessibility Survey:
We are currently seeking feedback from residents with disabilities/caregivers regarding accessibility in the City.  A compilation of results will be forwarded to City Council for consideration and will be included in future action plans.  The online survey is available until November 16, 2012.   2012 Accessibility Survey

Responsibilities of the Committee

  • to advise Council about preparation, implementation and effectiveness of its accessibility plan
  • to advise Council on the accessibility for persons with a disability to a building, structure or premises, or part of a building, structure or premises, that Council purchases, constructs, renovates, leases or which is provided to the Municipality as a capital facility
  • to review site plans and drawings described in Section 41 of the Planning Act
