Posted on Thursday January 29, 2015

The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department has completed the tendering process for the sanitary sewer replacement through Rotary Frenchman’s Bay West Park and on Breezy Drive, from Sunrise Avenue to Mink Street, in the City of Pickering. Work consists of installation of a new large diameter sanitary sewer pipe, removal and disposal of the existing sanitary sewer and maintenance holes, replacement or re-lining of residential sanitary service connections and associated restoration.

Construction schedule
The Region’s contractor, F.C.M. Construction Limited, will start work the week of February 9 and are expected to complete the work by June.

Lane restrictions and closures
Breezy Drive, from Sunrise Avenue to Mink Street, will be closed to through traffic for a period of approximately three weeks beginning in late March to facilitate the sanitary sewer construction. Local access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. The Region will notify residents in advance of any driveway restrictions. The walkway through Rotary Frenchman’s Bay Park will also be closed to pedestrian traffic once construction commences.

The Region realizes that the work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly as possible. Motorists are reminded to take additional precautions while travelling through the construction area for the safety of the construction workers.
