Pickering to Hold Auditions for Youth Dance Company SynchroniCity

Posted on Thursday October 01, 2020

Pickering, ON, September 30, 2020 - The City of Pickering has recently announced auditions for Pickering’s Official Dance Company, SynchroniCity.

The youth dance company is a group of talented youth dancers aged 12 – 17 years. COVID has been a tough time for everyone, but our dancers continue to rise to the challenge to find new ways to practice, and continue to build on their skills. This year, the auditions have changed and are following the Provincial and Health Department guidelines to ensure your safety. Small groups will be in the audition room, providing lots of space for your showing. Additional people will not be permitted in the facility during auditions. Masks must be worn at all times, and may only be removed during your performance. All judges will wear masks throughout all auditions.

If you prefer, we will be accepting audition tapes for review. The deadline for audition tapes is October 2nd, 2020.

Experienced dancers are invited to attend the Synchronicity audition on Sunday, October 4th, 2020 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex, Studio A. Dancers must pre-register to reserve an audition spot. Auditions are free and will be overseen by a panel of talented choreographers and dance professionals. Dancers have the option to audition in person or online. This is a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to a professional audition setting. No music is required, as it will be provided at the audition.

If selected, company members will have incredible opportunities to build their dance resumes through education and performance opportunities. In addition to performing at a number of City events, company members will work with talented industry professionals; developing leadership, audition, dance, and performance skills. If accepted into the company there will be a program fee of $150.00 for the fall session (October – December). Fees include all choreography, guest choreography, and rehearsal space.

All programs will follow the Provincial and Health Department guidelines. Prescreening will be required before the start of the audition and dancers are required to pre-register before attending. Participants will be required to wear a mask during the prescreening and check in portion of each audition. This is an opportunity of a lifetime!
