City of Pickering and Grandview Kids offering Summer Group Respite

Posted on Thursday June 03, 2021

Pickering, ON, June 3, 2021 - After a lengthy and stressful pandemic, the City of Pickering is thrilled to partner with Grandview Kids, to introduce a much needed Summer Group Respite program, alongside City of Pickering Camp operations.

Group respite will be available to members of Grandview Kids and will offer structured and supervised activities in a group setting for children between the ages of 6 – 12 years old.

Respite programs will be available at the West Shore Community Centre for five weeks this summer, Monday through Friday, offering half-day programming each session.  Each session will feature many creative and fun activities throughout each week, both indoors and out!

Also with the support of Grandview Kids, the City of Pickering continues to enhance inclusive program opportunities for all of our residents. For example, we look forward to offering another summer of Youth Exceptionalities Camp, offering a fun, safe and engaging experience for youth, ages 13 - 20 years old.

As the City of Pickering prepares for another summer of in-person camp and program opportunities, our number one priority is the health and safety of our participants, staff and community. Registration is currently open for summer camp offerings, which meet or exceed the requirements provided by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Each program will strictly adhere to health directives during planning and delivery of our operation, and will not operate if Provincial and Regional Health Departments advise it is unsafe to proceed in person at the time of delivery. For the most up-to-date information on camps and guidance from the Ontario Ministry of Health, please visit our camps webpage at
