Pickering Rouge Canoe Relocation Proposal

Posted on Monday April 19, 2021

Pickering, ON, April 19, 2021 - The Pickering Rouge Canoe Club (PRCC) is seeking permission from the City of Pickering to relocate their club site and a number of their programs out of Progress Frenchman’s Bay East Park. The park located on Front Street in East Shore.

PRCC has already moved their children’s programs to Rouge Beach in Scarborough, and would like to maintain a site at Frenchman’s Bay for the Special Olympics (PaddleAll), High Performance & Development, Masters and Dragon Boat programs. The PRCC has committed to covering any costs associated with installing and maintaining site containers and delivering programming at the new site.

The width and depth of the Rouge River is not suitable for these particular programs. In order to consider the request of PRCC, the City seeks to collect feedback from the community on their proposal.

Residents are invited to provide feedback!

The City wants to hear from interested residents. Your feedback will assist in developing an understanding of current park use, and the sentiment on relocating PRCC club and activities to this location.

Visit the City website at pickering.ca/prcc to review the proposal and complete the survey.  The survey will be available until May 10, 2021.
