Notice of Passing of Development Charge By-law

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the City of Pickering passed Development Charge By-law Number 7727/19 to amend By-law 7595/17 on December 16, 2019 under section 2(1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.O., 1997 c.27, as amended; and

TAKE NOTICE that any person or organization may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT) under Section 14 of the Act, in respect of the Development Charge By-law, by filing with the Clerk of the City of Pickering a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and the reasons supporting the objection. The last day for appealing the by-law is January 27, 2020. The Notice of Appeal must set out the reasons for the appeal, and must be accompanied by the $300.00 fee required by LPAT. Cheques must be made payable to the “Minister of Finance.”

Development Charges are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding growth-related capital expenditures. This by-law applies to all lands within the boundary of the City of Pickering including Seaton. Key maps outlining the applicable area are attached to this notice.

A copy of the complete Development Charge By-law, including the detailed schedules of charges, are available for examination in the office of the City Clerk at the City of Pickering, Municipal Office, located on the 2nd floor, One The Esplanade during regular office hours.
