Have your Say on Pickering’s Housing Strategy Study

Posted on Thursday January 14, 2021

Pickering, ON, January 14, 2021 – The City is undertaking a Housing Strategy Study to facilitate opportunities for an appropriate balance and supply of suitable, adequate, and affordable housing for all ages and abilities, within its jurisdiction.

“We know that a healthy housing system offers a diverse mix of housing to accommodate a variety of individual and family needs,” said Mayor Dave Ryan. “We want to give people of all income levels access to safe and stable housing. In particular, older adults are a vulnerable segment of the population and currently represent the fastest growing population in Pickering. I feel it is our duty to not only acknowledge that there is a housing crisis, but take real and meaningful action to address it.”

The Housing Strategy Study aims to establish the City’s role and priorities in facilitating opportunities for developing a diverse range of housing, including affordable, age-friendly, and accessible housing in Pickering over the next 10 years.

The City is currently in Phase 1 of the Study and invites residents to learn more and get involved.
