Accessibility Advisory Committee Vacancy
The City of Pickering encourages citizens to participate in their community by volunteering for one of our boards, committees or taskforces. The Accessibility Advisory Committee is currently accepting applications from citizen volunteers.
Accessibility Advisory Committee
Role: The mandate of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to fulfill the duties as outlined in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 and to provide advice to Council on programs, policies and services provided to persons with disabilities.
Number of Vacancies: One (1)
Qualifications: Awareness and knowledge of potential barriers to public access of facilities, programs and services to people living with a disability would be an asset.
The majority of the Committee must be comprised of individuals living with a disability. For candidates not living with a disability, consideration will be given to other experiences or expertise regarding accessibility or supporting people with disabilities.
While disclosing personal information is optional, this information is helpful to the City in ensuring a well-represented, AODA-compliant committee. Any disclosure you make regarding a disability will be maintained in confidence by the City pursuant to the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Meetings: Third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm.
