City of Pickering Response to COVID-19
Update #2
Pickering, ON, March 16, 2020
The City of Pickering has been following the rapidly evolving COVID-19 situation, and reviewing steps to minimize the risk to its community and employees.
At noon today, the City will close public access to Pickering City Hall, until April 5, 2020. This aligns with actions taken last week to close a number of public City facilities and cancel all City-run camps, programs, and events.
Resources:
- Visit pickering.ca/COVID19 for updates on facility closures and program cancellations
- Visit Ontario Ministry of Health and The Region of Durham Health Department for updates on the novel coronavirus and tips for everyday actions that can help stop the spread of germs.
It is important to note that Public Health continues to assure us that the risk of becoming ill from COVID-19 remains low in Ontario.
The City recognizes the significant impact this decision will have on the community, but these precautionary measures are necessary to keep people safe.
