Notice of Hybrid Electronic Statutory Public Meeting

Regarding the City’s Proposed New Development Charges By-law

Take notice that the Council of the City of Pickering will hold a hybrid electronic statutory public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied in the City (including Seaton). It is proposed that the enactment of a new Development Charges By-law by Council would occur on a date subsequent to this public meeting. The hybrid public meeting will be held on:

Development Charges (DC) are levied against new development, and are a primary source of funding growth-related capital expenditures. City capital services include: Other Services Related to a Highway, Protective Services, Library Services, Parks & Recreation Services, Growth Studies, Transportation and Stormwater Management.

City Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2022 Development Charges Background Study, and the proposed DC By-law.

In order that sufficient information is made available to the public, an electronic version of the 2022 Development Charges Background Study and the proposed DC by-law are available on the City’s website at pickering.ca/dc.

Persons who wish to address Council on this matter are encouraged to register in advance of the Public Meeting with the City Clerk. To register as a delegate, visit www.pickering.ca/delegation and complete the Delegation Request Form. Delegates have the option to appear in person, or through a virtual, audio connection into the hybrid Meeting. Any individuals who appear in person and have not pre-registered with the Clerk will be heard after all other registered delegates. The deadline to register as a delegate is noon on Friday, June 17, 2022.

Written submissions are also invited and should be directed to the City Clerk at clerks@pickering.ca no later than noon on Friday, June 17, 2022 in order that they may be circulated to Council prior to the Meeting.
