Virtual Programs Supporting Youth Leadership

Pickering, ON, January 10, 2022 – Virtual Programs Supporting Youth.

The City of Pickering continues to expand virtual program options, to help ensure the lives of residents are enriched through services that support engaging activities in our community. One area of focus is on programs that support youth leadership. The City of Pickering will be expanding its current offerings with two youth programs; Home Alone 10-14 yrs. and Babysitter’s Training 11-15 yrs.

These programs support Youth Leadership through equipping participants with the necessary training and skills to successfully be without adult supervision. Youth will learn how to look after their personal safety and that of younger children, responding appropriately to a variety of emergencies, and how to solve everyday problems which may arise. As the pandemic continues, it is important that we empower, support and instill confidence in youth who may need to be at home alone and caring for younger children, as their parents/guardians may be out of the home for extended periods of time.

Don’t miss the opportunity to register for these two new Virtual Programs as registration is now open and space is limited. Home Alone will take place on Saturday, January  22nd  and Babysitter’s training will take place on Saturday, January 29th. Programs will be offered virtually through the Zoom platform, which is a user friendly platform and is easily accessible for youth to participate in.

To reserve a spot, please visit Registered participants will receive the program link prior to the start of the class.

We look forward to seeing you over Zoom in these new Virtual Programs. Follow us on Facebook @RecreationPickering or check our website at for more information on programs and activities happening in Pickering.
