Proposal
The City of Pickering has initiated a Zoning By-law Amendment to implement the Council-endorsed reduction of maximum Dwelling Height of Infill or Replacement Dwellings from 10 to 9 metres (October 25, 2021 Resolution #718/21). This amendment will apply to lands located within the Established Neighbourhood Precinct Overlay Zones.

On January 24, 2022 Council approved the recommendations in Report PLN 01-22 and passed By-laws 7900/22, 7901/22, and 7902/22. The purpose and effect of these by-laws is to reduce the maximum permitted Dwelling Height for Infill and Replacement Dwellings from 10.0 to 9.0 metres in Established Neighbourhood Precinct Overlay Zones. The City's decision to adopt By-laws 7900/22, 7901/22, and 7902/22 (which amend Zoning By-laws 2511, 2520 and 3036 respectively), have been appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Planning Act Requirements
If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the City of Pickering before the Council gives approval or refusal of the Zoning By-law Amendment, the person or public body:
i) Is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Council to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal; and
ii) May not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Tribunal, there are reasonable grounds to do so.
