Councillor Christine Doody-HamiltonCouncillor Christine Doody-Hamilton was appointed to fill the vacant seat of City Councillor, Ward 2 on January 13, 2022.

Councillor Doody-Hamilton is proud and honoured to serve the community that she has called home for over 30 years and looks forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of Ward 2 residents and beyond.

Her strong and proven commitment to the environmental health of the community will help strengthen and guide the City’s ongoing efforts to advance its sustainability journey. As well, her passion for education and community engagement will support the City’s work in collaborating with diverse stakeholders on the programs, facilities and services that touch their everyday lives.

Councillor Doody-Hamilton holds a Master of Environmental Studies at York University, and has worked for the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, focusing on watershed management. In addition, she has also committed herself to public service by volunteering with a number of organizations including the DEAC (Durham Environmental Advisory Committee), LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests), and previously the Duffins Creek Watershed Taskforce.

As a former professor of 30 years in the School of Environmental and Civil Engineering Technology at Seneca College, Councillor Doody-Hamilton is passionate about educating and engaging with a diverse community of students and youth. She also served in ‘Women in Technology’ outreach initiatives to promote STEM and the School of Civil Engineering Technology to teenage girls.
