Additionally, through smart and pedestrian-focused design, the City will have the ability to close off sections of Glenanna Road and Esplanade South in order to create a massive community gathering space that could accommodate large festivals and special events.

Provincial Growth Targets

The Province of Ontario manages regional growth targets. Pickering’s dynamic City Centre has been designated by the Province as both an Urban Growth Centre and Mobility Hub, to reach a goal of minimum, 200 jobs and persons per hectare by 2031. Currently, Pickering has 88 jobs and persons per hectare (this does not include the new City Centre redevelopment project).
