Pickering’s City Centre is undergoing a bold transformation that will see an exciting array of new, state-of-the-art buildings and municipal facilities, including a performing arts centre, a relocated and expanded central library, a combined seniors & youth centre, three condominium towers, hotel, and a vibrant public square. 

Project Partners

This project is in partnership with OPB Realty Inc., owners of Pickering Town Centre (PTC), and focuses on the redevelopment of lands on the east side of the mall and immediately south of Esplanade South.

Additionally, through smart and pedestrian-focused design, the City will have the ability to close off sections of Glenanna Road and Esplanade South in order to create a massive community gathering space that could accommodate large festivals and special events.

Provincial Growth Targets

The Province of Ontario manages regional growth targets. Pickering’s dynamic City Centre has been designated by the Province as both an Urban Growth Centre and Mobility Hub, to reach a goal of minimum, 200 jobs and persons per hectare by 2031. Currently, Pickering has 88 jobs and persons per hectare (this does not include the new City Centre redevelopment project).
