Name of Study Durham Region Fiscal Impact Study
Brief Description

The purpose of this Study is to examine the capital and on-going operating cost implications of the higher standards planned for this model sustainable community, and to demonstrate that the development of Seaton will not pose a financial hardship on the Region and is financially sustainable.

The Study will provide the information needed to ensure appropriate measures and financial agreements, including front-ending and cost-sharing agreements and development charges are in place prior to the development of Seaton

Consultants The IBI Group
Status Study had commenced in 2005, but was not actively worked on during 2006 and part of 2007; study reactivated in mid 2007.
Other Comments Once completed, the Study will be peer reviewed by a consultant retained by the Region, and subsequently will be presented to Regional Council.

 

This Study is a requirement of the Durham Regional Official Plan and the Central Pickering Development Plan.

 

The study is being undertaken by the Seaton developers' group -- the North Pickering Community Management Inc.
