Comprehensive Zoning By-law Review

The City of Pickering has initiated a review of the six existing zoning by-laws. The purpose of this review is to create one consolidated zoning by-law which reflects current legislation, policy and trends.

Housing Strategy Study

The City of Pickering is undertaking a comprehensive Housing Strategy Study that will provide a framework to ensure the City enables a supply of suitable, adequate and affordable housing for the present and future residents of Pickering. The Housing Strategy Study will focus on the need for delivering a diverse range of housing options, including affordable and accessible units to accommodate residents of all ages, abilities and income levels.

Infill and Replacement Housing in Established Neighbourhoods Study

The City is undertaking a study to determine how to manage new infill and replacement housing construction in established residential neighbourhoods within the South Pickering Urban Area.

Integrated Transportation Master Plan (ITMP) The City has initiated an Integrated Transportation Master Plan (ITMP) study. ITMP is a strategic planning document designed to define the policies, programs and infrastructure improvements required to address existing and future transportation needs.
Kingston Road Corridor and Specialty Retailing Node Intensification Study

The Kingston Road Corridor and Specialty Retailing Node Intensification Study concluded in December 2019 with Council’s endorsement in principle of an Intensification Plan and Draft Urban Design Guidelines for lands within the study area, and staff were authorized to initiate an Official Plan Amendment to implement the new vision and Intensification Plan for the Corridor and Node. The Official Plan Amendment is being prepared and will include opportunities to participate and provide comments.

Ward Boundary Review

The City conducted a ward boundary review to ensure that residents receive fair representation at their local council table. View the information page for updates.
