Interpretive Public Tours

During the regular operating season, guests will enjoy interpretation by costumed staff and volunteers at each of PMV's heritage buildings and gardens. Learn about Pickering's past, from early settlement to 1920 as you move through the site in a multi-sensory tour that promises to be memorable. Do you have children in your group? Ask about signing out a History Mystery Kit full of puzzles, artifact activities, games, and a special mystery to solve as you enjoy your tour.

History in Action Saturdays

In addition to the standard interpretive tour, get your hands on history every Saturday in June, July, and August to see, and even try a different heritage demonstration each week. Ice Cream Making is always a standard on these Saturdays! Check out further details on extra demonstrations (activities are subject to change).

Outreach Programs

Can't make it to the Village? We will come to you! Our various outreach programs are designed for groups of 20 people or more. These Heritage-to-Go programs are adaptable and suitable for life-long learners of all ages and interest.

Group Tours

Our knowledgeable costumed interpreters offer group tours for groups of 12 people and up. These tours are available between April and December and must be booked in advance. A variety of themes are available for life-long learners of all ages and interests.

Our staff and volunteers offer a variety of workshops specially designed for children and adults. These are offered seasonally or by appointment or pre-registration; please see our Leisure Guide for information on workshops, and Summer Solstice or Harvest Suppers.

World-class humour is served up alongside a full course meal circa 1850.  This limited seating event promises an evening you won't soon forget.  Your evening includes interacting with your costumed hostess as she prepares an authentic mid-1800s meal, the quaint ambiance of the museum village's rural inn, 19th century amusements, and a full course meal based on the season.  Tickets are $60 per person and are on sale now.  You can purchase tickets online at the eStore or in person at the Pickering Museum Village Gift Shop.

We offer a wide variety of tea options for guests. Choose from three menu levels to suit your visit and your guests. A minimum of six guests in your party is required to make a reservation.

Although the buildings are wheelchair accessible, the village grounds are uneven and do not have sidewalks. Please notify a staff member of your accessibility concerns when booking so that we can make the necessary arrangements to accommodate you.
