Training for City of Pickering Partner Organizations and Volunteers

Community organizations or volunteers working in partnership with the City of Pickering are required to complete accessibility training, available through the links below.

1.   The Ontario Human Rights Code

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005 (AODA) requires a basic knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code, as it relates to persons with disabilities. Visit the Ontario Human Rights Commission website to complete the training module.

2.  The Accessibility Standard for Customer Service

The Province of Ontario has provided a training module that may be used to train your staff and volunteers. It provides valuable information and insights into how to provide positive customer service for people of all abilities.

3.   The Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulations (IASR)

The Province has also created a series of training modules for the four (4) Integrated Accessibility Standards: Information and Communication Standard, Employment Standard, Transportation Standard, and the Design of Public Spaces Standards (Accessibility Standards for the Built Environment), as well as for general requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act 2005.

Please note it is the responsibility of your organization to ensure that your staff and volunteers receive this training, to keep accurate records of who has been trained and when the training took place.
