Important Notices To Building Permit Applicants and Designers

If you are not a licensed architect or professional engineer you may be required to:

Municipalities are not permitted to issue permits applied for after January 1, 2006, unless affected building designers meet these requirements.

Effective January 1, 2015

A number of 2012 Ontario Building Code amendments will come into force, including:
  • Ontario Regulation 360/13 - for changes to registration fees and application fees to the Building Code Commission and for Minister's Ruling requests
  • Ontario Regulation 361/13 - for Exterior Insulation Finish Systems (EIFS) design provisions
  • Ontario Regulation 368/13 - for accessibility enhancements
  • Ontario Regulation 191/14 - for mid-rise wood framed buildings (up to six storeys), and other miscellaneous barrier-free accessibility and Part 3 changes

Effective January 1, 2013
