The City is developing its first Road Occupancy By-law and is asking the public for feedback.
The proposed By-law includes regulations for work being performed on a City road or boulevard (City right-of-ways).
By-law Highlights
Anyone wanting to perform work on a City right-of-way is required to apply for a Road Occupancy Permit before beginning any work. The permit states all of the standard terms and conditions and the applicant responsibilities.
The proposed By-law will support the permits issued for work within the City’s right-of-ways. It will also establish working conditions, enforcement mechanisms, and opportunities for the City to track and recover damage or restoration costs if the work is not completed to the City’s satisfaction.
The proposed By-law includes general administrative enforcement regulations, controls, safeguards and penalties in order to protect the general public and the City’s risk, while ensuring that work carried out in our right-of ways is completed to City standards.
