City of Pickering Makes Repairs to Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex with Funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation

The City of Pickering received $386,000 from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to make repairs and improvements to the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex.

Grant funding supported the following projects that took place in 2022:

  • Replaced the damaged hockey arena tile floor with new flooring
  • Replaced the indoor pool bleachers with new retractable bleachers
  • Replaced the floor in the banquet hall with new flooring
  • Repaired the gutter membrane in the tennis courts to address the source of roof leaks in the tennis courts. 

The Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex is Pickering’s largest multi-use community centre and is the hub of social, recreational, sport, and social activity in Pickering. The Complex is the centre for many large community events including swim meets and sporting events like the Special Olympics.

  • Pass is valid for 4 weeks from day of redemption.

  • Available to anyone 16+. Limited to one special per person.

Summer Membership for students 18+ is available starting May 1.
Cost is $175.00 and the membership runs from May 1 to September 4.

This membership includes fitness classes, cardio & weight rooms, the pool during public swim times, and members change rooms. It’s a great price and a great way to stay active over the summer.

In total, the province’s Community Building Fund invested $105 million to support community arts and culture, heritage, tourism, sport and recreation organizations that experienced significant financial pressures due to COVID-19. The fund is administered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) and supports the renovation of recreation facilities. The City of Pickering gratefully acknowledges the funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that made these renovations possible.
