Notice of Extension of Roof Top HVAC Installation 

Purpose: Roof Top HVAC Installation at George Ashe Library & Community Centre

Duration: Monday, July 7 to Friday, August 29, 2025

Heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) units are being replaced at George Ashe Library & Community Centre.

All City and Library programs and services will continue as scheduled with exception to the Youth Room, which will be closed for the duration of the project. Temporary cooling will be provided to the Paris and Franklin Rooms on the community centre side of the building. The Library will not be affected by this work. Facility rentals will also continue as planned during the construction period.

Expect localized closures to the parking lot during construction as follows:

• A crane lift is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19. On this date:

·         The capacity of the parking lot will be impacted, and carpooling is recommended.

·         The north entry doors will be closed to the public until approximately 10:00 am. Please enter   and exit the facility via the south entrance (nearest the library).

·         Major equipment lifts are anticipated to be complete before the facility opens, but in the event lifting operations require additional time, localized temporary closures of interior areas beneath the lift zone may be necessary. The temporary closures may include the washrooms, main hallway, and foyer to the Paris and Franklin rooms. Staff will redirect the public when necessary.

·         The orange area will be blocked off from approximately 7:00 am to 3:00 pm and the yellow area will be blocked off from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.

·         Accessible parking will be moved temporarily to the blue area, with signage provided.

• The red areas may be blocked off for construction storage at various stages of the project.

Street parking is available on Rosebank Road, north of Old Forest Road.

Installation is currently expected to be complete by Friday, August 29, subject to suitable weather and equipment production and delivery dates.
