Pickering, ON, September 9, 2026 – The City of Pickering is inviting residents to help shape how traffic concerns are identified, assessed, and prioritized in neighbourhoods across the community. As part of the development of new Neighbourhood Traffic Calming Measures Guidelines, the City has launched a public survey and interactive mapping tool to better understand residents’ experiences with traffic and road safety across Pickering.

Please be advised that the older Family Change Room will be temporarily closed from Tuesday, September 8 through Saturday, September 12 to accommodate a rooftop HVAC unit replacement. Throughout the closure, the main Universal Change Room will remain open and fully accessible for use. 

TRCA is advising of an increased potential for flooding within its river systems due to the risk of severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall over a short period. These conditions could result in rapidly rising water levels and localized flooding. 

Pickering, ON, September 1, 2026 – Durham Region municipalities are once again coming together for Hunger Action Month to raise awareness and collect food and monetary donations to fight hunger in the community.

The entirety of the Dog Park will be temporarily closed in Dunmoore Park from Friday August 28th, 2026 to Friday, September 18th, 2026 for the installation of new lighting.

Please be advised that construction activities will be taking place at Valleyview Park for the replacement of the existing asphalt pathway. 

We know Petticoat Creek holds a special place in the hearts of many Pickering residents. For years, families gathered at its outdoor aquatic facility to swim, cool off and spend summer days together. We understand the disappointment surrounding its closure and recognize that many residents have fond memories connected to this much-loved community destination.

With renewed community discussion about the aquatic facility, we also want to help clarify who owns and operates Petticoat Creek Conservation Park, what has happened with the pool and what role the City of Pickering plays.
