Pickering, ON, April 20, 2026 – I want to acknowledge the harm caused by recent comments made by a member of Pickering City Council regarding the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation’s investigations at the former Kamloops Indian Residential School site. I offer my sincere apology to Indigenous community members, Survivors, families, and all those affected by these remarks.

Road closure will be in place on Whites Road, from Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) to Finch Avenue (Regional Road 27), in the City of Pickering.  

Pickering Animal Services is hosting a Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic on Saturday, April 18, in partnership with the Durham Region Health Department and Millennium City Veterinary Hospital.

Littering and illegal dumping are not harmless habits. They damage the environment, threaten wildlife, strain municipal resources, and diminish the shared spaces residents rely on every day. To confront the issue head on, the City of Pickering is bringing back its bold public awareness campaign, “Littering? That’s so trash.” 

The Stormwater Management Facility K-16 construction project, located within the Krosno Creek watershed, was identified in the 2009 Frenchman’s Bay Watersheds Stormwater Management Master Plan as an opportunity to improve water quality control. The purpose of the facility is to provide the highest level of stormwater treatment achievable within the limits of the available area. A Public Information Centre will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. 

On September 29, 2025, Council endorsed the preferred design concept for the Seaton
Recreation Complex & Library and authorized staff to proceed to the design development phase of
the project.
