Flags at City of Pickering facilities will fly at half-mast in recognition of a member of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) who passed away on August 12, 2026.
Pickering, ON, August 13, 2026 – The City of Pickering is helping connect more residents with the opportunity to enjoy the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) this summer. The CNE has provided the City with 1,000 complimentary admission passes for residents who may face financial, accessibility, or other barriers that can make recreational and family experiences harder to access.
Please be advised that construction activities will be taking place at J. McPherson Park for the installation of a new pathway. The pathway will extend from the existing walkway to Pebble Court, and continue through the Park to Parkside Drive.
Contractors will begin renovations to the men’s, and women’s washrooms located on the second floor of the Pickering Public Library Central Branch on Monday, August 17, 2026. The project is scheduled to be completed by Friday, October 9, 2026.
To accommodate the renovation, the second-floor washrooms will be closed for the duration of the project. Washrooms located on the ground floor will remain open and fully accessible.

Roof replacement work at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (CHDRC) has been extended and is now anticipated to continue through Monday, August 31, 2026.
Sandy Beach Road to be closed from Kinsmen Park Access to Montgomery Park Road. Montgomery Park Road to be closed from Sandy Beach Road to Brock Road.
Duration: Tuesday, August 4, 2026, to Thursday, December 31, 2026
Temporary Road Closure on Westney Road from 4465 Westney Road to 8th Concession Road.
Please be advised that the closure of the Dunmoore Dog Park has been extended due to an unexpected manufacture delay. The entirety of the Dog Park will be temporarily closed in Dunmoore Park for the installation of new lighting.
The burn ban was implemented due to prolonged high temperatures and to support the ongoing safety of our community.
