October 24, 2024 – New this year, bring your favourite neighbourhood project to life through the participatory budget process. The City of Pickering is preparing its 2025 budget and invites residents to share their priorities for Pickering’s future.
Migizi (Bald Eagle) Saves The World is a new temporary public artwork by Nyle Miigizi Johnston to be installed on the balcony (facing Esplanade Park) of City Hall. The work is to be unveiled on November 15, 2024, as part of Winter Nights, City Lights 2024 and it will remain on site until January 31, 2025. This work is funded by Ontario Power Generation (OPG).
Public input received during the 2024 community engagement phase will help shape a final design proposal, which will be presented to Council for review and consideration in the first quarter of 2025.

ayukwenodih ('They have found their voice') is a new permanent public artwork by JAH QUBE X TAMMARO to be installed at the intersection of Kingston Rd and Whites Rd in Pickering. The work is to be unveiled in Fall 2024.
August 27, 2024 - The Region of Durham and area municipalities are once again coming together this National Hunger Action Month to help raise awareness, food donations, and funds to fight hunger in the community.
Hunger is an important issue that affects individuals, seniors, and families throughout the Region. As Durham Region continues to rapidly grow and food prices increase, more people are experiencing homelessness and/or using food banks and related services than ever before. The Region and area municipalities are taking action to address this need in the community.
