Pickering, ON, June 8, 2026 – In 2025, City staff filed a harassment complaint against Councillor Robinson under the City’s Respect in the Workplace Policy, citing an ongoing campaign of bullying, intimidation, and persistent harassing conduct directed at staff that began in 2024.
Pickering, ON, May 29, 2026 – The City of Pickering will host a planned emergency preparedness exercise on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, in partnership with the Region of Durham’s Emergency Social Services program. The exercise will test activation and operation of a municipal evacuation centre and coordinated support for evacuees during a simulated emergency.
Pickering, ON, May 26, 2026 – The City of Pickering has endorsed the final design concept for City Centre Park, a major step in transforming Pickering’s downtown into a vibrant, connected, and people-focused destination. Approved by Council at its May 25th meeting, the preferred design sets the vision for a landmark public space where nature, culture, recreation, and community life come together in the heart of the City Centre.
At last night’s Council meeting, the City of Pickering endorsed the Pickering Federal Lands - Land Use Review and Economic Analysis Recommendation Report, which calls for the protection of more than 7,500 acres of federal lands in north Pickering, with over 6,500 acres proposed for agricultural use within an expanded Rouge National Urban Park. The report recommends that 30-year farming leases be offered to encourage long-term agricultural investment.

PICKERING — The Ontario government is awarding the City of Pickering $4,410,987 through the third round of the Building Faster Fund, which provides funding to municipalities that achieve at least 80 per cent of their provincially designated housing targets.
The routine test of Alert Ready's emergency alerting system, originally scheduled for May 6, has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 1:55 pm.
The test message will be distributed over TV, radio, and compatible wireless devices.
Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system, and delivers critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians. Testing provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the system, and validate it works as intended in case of emergency.
