PICKERING — The Ontario government is awarding the City of Pickering $4,410,987 through the third round of the Building Faster Fund, which provides funding to municipalities that achieve at least 80 per cent of their provincially designated housing targets.
The routine test of Alert Ready's emergency alerting system, originally scheduled for May 6, has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 1:55 pm.
The test message will be distributed over TV, radio, and compatible wireless devices.
Alert Ready is Canada’s emergency alerting system, and delivers critical and potentially life-saving alerts to Canadians. Testing provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the system, and validate it works as intended in case of emergency.

The City of Pickering’s annual waterfront permit and paid parking program will return from May 1st to October 1st.

Beginning Wednesday, April 15 through Friday, June 26, portions of the roof at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (CHDRC) are being replaced. Phase 1 is scheduled for April 21 to May 12. Phase 2 is scheduled May 14 to June 26. These dates are subject to change due to weather. A small section of the north parking lot will be closed to patrons and staff and will be reserved for construction use only.
