pathways connect II is a digital collage that intertwines images of native plants, natural elements, and local landscapes from Pickering and Greenwood, inviting reflection on the beauty of surrounding ecosystems while encouraging care for ourselves, our communities, and the natural world.
This artwork is located in the alcoves at the Dorsay Community & Heritage Centre.

About the Artwork

pathways connect II is a digital collage created by layering and merging imagery of native plants, natural elements, and locations in and around Pickering & Greenwood. Inspired by the beautiful ecosystems that surround us, the work encourages reflection about the magic that exists in the everyday. Serving as a gentle reminder to take care and show up for ourselves, our families, communities, and incredible ecosystems and the natural world around us.

About the Artist

Laura Kay Keeling (she/her/they) is a self-taught visual artist based in Hamilton. She creates colourful and imaginative lens-based work through a process-centered approach, mixing analog and digital processes. The outcome of this is static imagery, video work, installation pieces, and public artwork. Keeling has exhibited work across Ontario, the United States, and South Korea and has received support from the Ontario Arts Council. Her work has been included in feature films, music albums, and in The Walrus Magazine, among othersAlongside her studio practice, Keeling is an active arts administrator and instructor.
