News Release - Pickering receives $16.38 million Fiscal 2026 payment from OLG

Pickering, ON, May 23, 2026 – Today, the City of Pickering proudly recognized the significant economic and community benefits generated through its partnership with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) during a cheque presentation at the Whitevale Spring Festival.

In total, Pickering received $16,380,715 in non-tax gaming revenue during OLG’s 2025 – 2026 fiscal year (April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026). Since Pickering Casino Resort opened in July 2021, the City has received $75,977,449 through its Municipal Contribution Agreement with OLG.

The City continues to reinvest gaming revenues into programs, services, and infrastructure that benefit residents. To date, casino revenues have supported the following Current and Capital Budget items:

  • Community grants supporting local non-profit organizations and community events, including festival programming
  • City Centre planning, design, and implementation work
  • Debt reduction and other measures that strengthen the City’s long-term financial sustainability
  • Parks, recreation, and facility improvements, including upgrades to community and sport infrastructure
  • Municipal infrastructure and service enhancements, including public realm, traffic, and fire service improvements

In 2026, casino revenues are planned to continue supporting priorities across the city, including community grants, parks and recreation improvements, municipal facility and public infrastructure projects, and other strategic investments that align with Council’s budget priorities and help enhance quality of life for residents.

“These revenue payments continue to make a meaningful difference in our community,” said Mayor Kevin Ashe. “From supporting important municipal programs and infrastructure to helping strengthen community events and organizations, our partnership with OLG creates lasting benefits for residents. Pickering Casino Resort and Durham Live also continue to generate economic activity, tourism, and local investment that contribute to our city’s growth and vitality.”

“This partnership continues to deliver tangible benefits for Pickering residents,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, MPP for Pickering-Uxbridge. “These revenues support local priorities, strengthen municipal services and infrastructure, and help the City invest in initiatives that enhance quality of life across the community.”

“OLG truly values being a long-standing partner in the City of Pickering and to communities across Ontario. Every dollar of OLG’s profit is returned to Ontario to support the things people care about most, like critical infrastructure, local initiatives, and community events. Those dollars are making a difference here in Pickering. The impact wouldn’t be possible without the great team at Pickering Casino Resort, whose work supports both the local economy and community well-being. When you play at an Ontario casino, you play for Ontario,” said Kathleen Devine, OLG’s Senior Municipal Relations Manager.
