How to do business with the City
The City of Pickering purchases an estimated 30 million dollars worth of goods and services annually through a fair, open and transparent process that achieves best value for your tax dollars.
Purchasing is administered by our Supply & Services Section which acts as a liaison between vendors and the City.
Our objectives include, but are not limited to, the following:
- obtaining the best value of goods and services
- selecting responsive and responsible suppliers
- fostering open and fair competition

Accessible Documents |
Studies, reports, plans and presentations that will be published on the City of Pickering website must be provided to the City in an accessible format compatible to Adobe Acrobat XI or higher. All contractors performing work for the City must comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians With Disabilities Act, 2005 (“AODA”), in particular the Integrated Accessibility Standards, O. Reg. 191/11. Unless determined by the City to not be practicable, contractors shall ensure that any information, products, deliverables and/or communications (as defined in the Integrated Regulation) produced pursuant to a contract shall be in conformity with World Wide Web Consortium Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA and shall be provided in accessible Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF etc. Visit ontario.ca for rules on how to comply. Accessible Procurement |
Legislation requires that all contractors providing goods, services or construction to the City shall ensure their employees and sub-contractors are trained on providing accessible customer service. The City is committed to accessibility through the following provincial statute:
