Daytime Warming Centres

During winter months, the City of Pickering will activate warming centres during Extreme Cold Weather Alerts.

Visit durham.ca for cold weather alerts.

During cold weather warnings, the City's Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex is a designated warming centre. Leashed pets are welcome if well-controlled by owner.

Overnight Emergency Warming Shelter

DARS and Region of Durham operate an Overnight Emergency Warming Centre in Pickering, offering a safe, warm space for residents in need.

Every night from 9 pm - 8 am (except for Fridays, which are 10 pm - 8 am)

The centre will operate every night until March 31, 2026.
