Street Sweeping

As part of our water conservation efforts, the City uses a waterless street sweeper to flush the roads, and sweep it clean of dirt and winter debris, each spring.

The machine operates virtually dust free and removes small particles from roadways and pavement cracks without allowing the particles to scatter into the atmosphere. These particles may contain heavy metals and other pollutants that could have otherwise been carried by stormwater runoff into creeks and streams.

The City’s street sweepers are dispatched a minimum of twice per year during the spring and fall seasons; with a possible third pass in the fall (weather and time permitting).

Please be advised that the City does not provide leaf removal services on Municipal roadways. 

The primary function of the City’s street sweepers is to remove corrosive materials and substances from City Infrastructure. While incidental leaf collection may occur during this process, it is not the intended purpose of street sweeping operations.
