Notice of Extension of Warming Centre at CHDRC

Extension of Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex as a Warming Centre

Purpose: Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex is a designated Warming Centre during cold weather warnings. 

Duration: Extended until Monday, December 8, 2025

While a cold weather warning is in effect, the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex will be a designated warming centre. Leashed pets are welcome provided they are well controlled by their owner. 

This warning is expected to be in effect until Monday, December 8, 2025. 

The Recreation Complex is open Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.

An emergency overnight warming centre will be available at Peace Lutheran Church (928 Liverpool Rd), 
operated in partnership with the Region of Durham and DARS.

The centre will operate nightly from December 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026, offering a safe, warm space for 
residents in need.

Hours of operation for the overnight centre: 
Saturday – Thursday: 9:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
Friday – 10:00 pm – 8:00 am
