The Council of the City of Pickering meets on Mondays in the Council Chambers as follows (or as otherwise provided by resolution of Council):

  • Executive Committee - meet the first Monday of the month at 2:00 pm
  • Planning & Development Committee - meet the first  Monday of the month at 7:00 pm
  • Council - meet the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00 pm

The City’s Procedure By-law governs the calling, place and proceedings of Council and Committee meetings.

Filming/photography in Council Chambers

To ensure the respect, safety, and comfort of all who visit the Council Chambers for Council and Committee meetings, Meeting attendees, with the exception of City staff, are not permitted to record any portion of a Meeting and shall not take photos of any individual at a Meeting or any portion of the Meeting proceedings, unless they have been granted permission by a Two-Thirds majority vote of the Members present.

The City is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and conflict for City representatives, staff, and members of the community.

Credentialed Media Filming/Photography Request

Credentialed Media who wish to film or take photos at an upcoming Committee or Council Meeting are asked to submit their request by 12:00 noon on the date of the Meeting. Requests must include a scanned copy of media credentials.

At the discretion of Council and/or Committee, permission may be granted by a Two-Thirds majority vote of the Members present at the meeting in question.

The City of Pickering is holding Hybrid Electronic Meetings which permit both in person and virtual participation in accordance with the City’s Procedure By-law.  Members of the public may attend the meeting in person, or may observe the meeting proceedings by viewing the livestream. A recording of the meeting will also be available on the City’s website following the meeting.
