Pride Month
A flag raising ceremony will take place at Pickering City Hall on Wednesday, June 3 at 9:00 am in honour of Pride Month. Following the ceremony will be the public art unveiling of the ‘Pride Lives Here’ temporary murals on the windows surrounding the clock tower of City Hall, created by local artist Jacqueline Mak.
The Pride Progress flag will be displayed until Friday, June 12, 2026.
Tragedy of OPP Constable Tarun Bali and Toronto Constable Marc Pinizzotto
Flags at all City facilities will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and remembrance for the loss of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali and Toronto Police Service Constable Marc Pinizzotto who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. Flags will be flown at half-mast from now until sunset on June 15th.
National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day
A flag raising ceremony will take place at Pickering City Hall on Friday, June 12 at 10:00 am in honour of National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day. Following the ceremony, the City of Pickering in partnership with Durham Community Health Centre will gather for activities including a drumming circle, singing, dancing and craft vendors. Dignitaries will gather and provide opening ceremonies beginning at 11:00 am.
The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation flag will be displayed until Monday, June 22, 2026.
National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism
Flags will be lowered to Half-mast on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism.
