Cancellation of all City programs due to severe weather
Purpose: Program Cancellations due to severe weather
Duration: January 15, 2026
Please be advised that all City of Pickering programs are cancelled today (Thursday, January 15, 2026) until 3:00 pm due to continuing severe weather and current road conditions. All facilities remain open. Please consult pickering.ca for any further information.
The Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex is a designated warming centre. Leashed pets are welcome provided they are well controlled by their owner.
The Recreation Complex is open Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm.
Overnight Shelter:
An emergency overnight warming centre will be available at Peace Lutheran Church (928 Liverpool Rd), operated in partnership with the Region of Durham and DARS. The centre will operate nightly from December 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, offering a safe, warm space for residents in need.
Hours of operation for the overnight centre:
Saturday – Thursday: 9:00 pm – 8:00 am
Friday – 10:00 pm – 8:00 am
