Notice of Electronic Statutory Public Meeting - Proposed New Development Charges By-law
May 13, 2025 - Take notice that the Council of the City of Pickering will hold an electronic statutory public meeting pursuant to The Development Charges Act, 1997, regarding proposed development charge rates and policies that will be applied in the City (including Seaton). It is proposed that the enactment of a new Development Charges By-law by Council would occur on July 1st, 2025. The public meeting will be held on:
Monday, June 9th, 2025 (immediately after the Executive Committee Meeting)
Development Charges (DC) are levied against new development and are a primary source of funding growth-related capital expenditures.
City Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the 2025 Development Charges Background Study, and the proposed DC By-law.
In order that sufficient information is made available to the public, an electronic version of the 2025 Development Charges Background Study and the proposed DC by-law are available on the City’s website at www.pickering.ca/dc

Persons who wish to address Council on this matter are encouraged to register in advance of the Public Meeting with the City Clerk. To register as a delegate, visit www.pickering.ca/meetings and complete the Delegation Request Form. The deadline to register as a delegate is noon on Friday, June 6th, 2025.
Written submissions are also invited and should be directed to the City Clerk at clerks@pickering.ca no later than noon on Friday, June 6th, 2025 in order that they may be circulated to Council prior to the Meeting.
