Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic

Pickering, ON, November 13, 2025 – Pickering Animal Services is hosting a Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic, in partnership with the Durham Region Health Department and Millennium City Veterinary Hospital.

  • Saturday, November 15 from 11 am – 4 pm (first hour is for cats only)
  • Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (O’Brien Room) – 1867 Valley Farm Road

To reduce stress for cats, 11 am – 12 pm is being reserved for cats only. From 12 pm – 4 pm, both cats and dogs will be seen. Each service costs $30 (while cash payments are preferred, alternative payment options will be available).

Vaccinating pets against rabies and using microchips are crucial steps to ensure their safety. The rabies vaccine prevents animals from contracting the disease if they encounter a rabid animal. A microchip is a form of identification that carries a unique ID number, significantly increasing the chances that a lost pet will be reunited with its owner.

“As responsible pet owners, it’s our duty to create a safe environment for everyone in our community – both people and pets,” said Lindsey Narraway, Supervisor, Animal Services. “By keeping your pet’s vaccinations up-to-date and ensuring they’re microchipped, you not only protect their health, but ensure if your pet goes missing – there’s a greater chance you’ll be reunited.”

This is a drop-in clinic, and no registration is required. Attendees can park in the back near the arena entrance, and arrive with pets on a leash or in a carrier.

All dogs entering must comply with the City’s Responsible Pet Ownership By-law (6811/07) and Ontario’s Dog Owners’ Liability Act, which states that dogs who have characteristics similar to a Pit Bull must wear a muzzle.
