Pickering to host water rescue emergency preparedness exercise

The City of Pickering, together with Durham Regional Police Service and Para Marine Search and Rescue, will be conducting a planned water rescue training exercise at Millennium Square.

Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2026
Time: 6 pm to 8 pm
Location: Millennium Square, south end of Liverpool Road, Pickering

As part of the exercise, residents in the area should expect to see emergency personnel, fire trucks, police vehicles and simulated response activities at and around Millennium Square. This is a scheduled training exercise and there is no emergency or risk to the public. On-site signage will be posted.

Regular emergency preparedness exercises help ensure staff and response partners are ready to act when it matters most. By training together in a controlled environment, teams can practise their roles, test procedures and communications, strengthen coordination, and validate the City’s emergency response plans and training requirements.

This type of hands-on, collaborative training is an important part of the City’s ongoing commitment to community safety and preparedness.
