Purpose: Construction of new watermain and servcies

Duration: October 6, 2025 - June 19, 2026

The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin construction of a new watermain and services on Taunton Road West, from William Jackson Drive to Ravenscroft Road, in the City of Pickering and Town of Ajax. Work will include restoration of all disturbed areas. Construction Schedule The Region’s contractor,Direct Underground Inc. will begin mobilizing the week of October 6 and anticipates completing the work by June 2026, including a winter shutdown period. Lane Restrictions Taunton Road West, from William Jackson Drive to Ravenscroft Road, will remain open to traffic with eastbound single lane restrictions. Residents and business owners should expect traffic delays and are asked to exercise caution for the safety of the construction workers. Access to residential driveways will be maintained whenever possible. Notification will be given to residents if vehicles need to be moved out of the driveway. Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents and businesses. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Temporary water service interruptions During the course of this work, residents will experience intermittent water supply interruptions. The contractor will notify impacted properties 48 hours in advance of any planned service interruptions to give the residents time to prepare. It is recommended that residents keep a supply of water in containers for drinking, cooking and general purposes during the service interruptions.
