February 2024

  • February marks the annual celebration of Black History Month in honour of the contributions, achievements and legacy of diverse Black communities in Canada and around the world. Today we raise the Pan-African Flag, which widely symbolizes Black liberation and pride. The Pan-African flag will be displayed from Thursday, February 1 to Thursday, February 15, to commemorate Black History Month.

  • The City of Pickering will be raising the Dominican Republic Flag on Tuesday, February 27, in front of City Hall to commemorate Dominican Republic’s Independence Day.

May 2024

  • The City of Pickering will be raising the Canadian Progress Club Flag to celebrate the milestone anniversaries of the two local Clubs: Durham South - 35 years of service and Durham Region Women - 30 years of service. There will be a flag raising ceremony on Monday, May 6 at 10:30 am and the flag will be on display until Friday, May 10. 

  • The City of Pickering will display the Period Purse flag in recognition of Menstrual Hygiene Day on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The flag will be on display until Wednesday, May 29, 2023. For more information, please visit menstrualhygieneday.org/
