Regional Councillor Linda Cook was first elected to Pickering Council in October 2022. Linda is a proud long-term resident of Ward 2, mother, partner, businesswoman and ally.

An advocate for equity and inclusion, Linda is a past member of the Durham Catholic School Board, Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC); Former President of the Pickering East Shore Community Association (PESCA); NCCP certified coach with Special Olympics Canada; and enthusiastic volunteer at the Royal Canadian Legion.

Linda proudly received a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee award from the Royal Canadian Legion #606 in 2022, City of Pickering Volunteer of the Year Award, in 2020, 5-year service award from RCL #606 in 2023, and 5+ year Service Award from Greater Durham Special Olympics in 2023.

In her professional career, Linda is the Senior Director & Head of Marketing and Visual Design for a large North American hyperscale edge data centre company, where she is a founding member of the Cologix Women’s Connection Network, a women’s collective dedicated to the empowerment and advancement of women in business.

Utilizing her 10+ years in infrastructure and construction build design, Linda currently represents residents on the following committees & boards:

• City of Pickering Planning & Development Committee
• Durham Regional Council
• Durham Region Works Committee
• Pickering Public Library Board

A consummate reader in her spare time, Linda is following her love of lifelong learning to pursue her degree in Indigenous studies through the Faculty of Native Studies, University of Alberta, with the goal of increasing her knowledge as a settler historian and ally. Just for fun, Linda is assistant coach and team Manager of the Greater Durham Special Olympics Speed Skating team, and head of her corporate book club, The Novel Bunch. She is a supporter and champion of the Lion’s Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, as a recipient of an AAD (Autism Assistance Dog) dog guide for her son.
