Dave Ochotta is our tennis professional. He has played on the San Diego State University tennis team, competed in the Italian Grand Prix and celebrated a quarter final finish in the Malta International Open.
Dave is a level III Tennis Canada certified coach with many years of experience. He operates daytime and evening leagues, ladders and tournaments for our tennis members.
Adult Tennis Classes
These classes will teach the fundamentals of forehand, serve, backhand, and volley. Class size will be limited to a small group of 4 - 6 students per instructor.
Novice Doubles Clinics
In the first part of the clinic, the tennis pro teaches you how doubles should be played with your partner. The "what and why" of doubles, strategies and some techniques is taught as well. The final part becomes a league (round robin), in which all can participate. (Note: you can sign up without a partner).
Saturday Afternoon Youth Clinic (6 - 17 years)
This program will enable all participants to learn the basics of forehand, backhand, serve, and volley. More advanced techniques and strategies may be covered if time permits. The techniques and strategies may be covered if time permits. The 7 week program allows for the playing of games and the establishment of a "network" of tennis friends.
Our House leagues run for 9 weeks. Members may register in person at the Pickering Recreation Complex. League size is limited and entries are confirmed on a first come first served basis. Dates and Times for leagues are posted in the tennis area and in the City Services & Leisure Guide.
The Men and Women's ladders are offered for all members. Ladders typically begin in early fall. Members must sign up in person at the Pickering Recreation Complex.
Members may register to compete in a variety of tournaments each year. Tournament information and registration forms are posted in the tennis corridor.
