The City of Pickering offers a variety of registered programs, drop-in play opportunities, and outdoor courts for enthusiasts of all skill levels. Whether you're looking to learn the basics, join a game, or enjoy some outdoor fun, we have options to suit everyone.

Registered Programs

Easy to learn, fun, and great exercise. Participants can play at their own pace. Levels 1 and 2 are available depending on experience. If you are new to the sport, we suggest registering for a program with instruction so that you can learn the rules and etiquette. Programs are available for teens, adults, and adults 55+.

Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex

Indoor Drop-In Pickleball Play 12+

Drop-in Play will resume the first week of October. Drop-in play is not available July - September.

East Shore Community Centre

Indoor Drop-In Pickleball Play - 55+

Advanced registration is required for drop-in play at this location. Once registered, there are no additional drop-in fees, and court bookings are not needed in advance. Simply show up during the scheduled days and times to enjoy a game.

Outdoor Pickleball Play

Pickering has dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at Diana, Princess of Wales Park.

These courts are available for public and Pickering Pickleball Club at the following scheduled times:

Fri - Sat: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Please note: These courts are currently open for the season and will close on October 31, 2026 (until next spring).

Other outdoor play opportunities are available at Amberlea Park, Claremont Memorial Park, Rick Hull Memorial Park (this does not include access to Rosebank Tennis Courts), and Village East Park.
Note: These are not dedicated pickleball courts, these locations are shared public spaces with multi-use courts that include pickleball lines available for play.

Where can we play Pickleball in Pickering – including inside and outside locations?

Indoors

Refer to the above schedule for indoor play, at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex, East Shore Community Centre and George Ashe Library and Community Centre.
Indoor Courts are available at the Pickering Soccer Centre - please visit their website for pricing and schedules.

Outdoors

Dedicated pickleball courts are available at Diana, Princess of Wales Park.
Multi-use courts with pickleball lines included are available at Amberlea Park, Village East Park, Rick Hull Memorial Park (this does not include access to Rosebank Tennis Courts), and Claremont Memorial Park.

Are there plans for additional indoor/outdoor play?

Yes

Indoor at the future Seaton Community Centre.
Future outdoor builds will be part of new tennis court locations in Duffin Heights and Seaton.

When can we play Pickleball at each location?

Indoors

Refer to the Indoor Pickleball section (above).
- CHD Rec Complex offers Pickleball in the Banquet Hall.
- East Shore CC offers Pickleball, registered (with instruction) and/or drop in.
- George Ashe L&CC offers Pickleball, registered (with instruction).
- Dr Nelson F. Tomlinson offers Pickleball, registered (with instruction).

Outdoors

courts are first, come first served. There is no league play organized by the City of Pickering on outdoor courts. No leagues are approved by the City of Pickering, and courts are free of charge to play on, when available.

Is there a cost to play Pickleball in Pickering?

Indoors - Yes

Do you offer Pickleball instruction?

Yes, each season there are 4 offerings each week at East Shore CC, George Ashe LCC or Dr Nelson F. Tomlinson Community Centre (Claremont) – refer to schedule (above).

Why can’t we play Pickleball on existing City tennis courts?

Other than the 2 public courts at Village East and Claremont (which are available for pickleball), all other tennis courts are under existing lease agreements with Tennis Clubs for exclusive use to operate programming.

Why can’t we play Pickleball on existing City basketball courts?

The basketball courts that are not lined for pickleball, are in high use locations, and are intended only for basketball play. Basketball continues to be very popular in Pickering and these high demand courts have been in place for many years, servicing the neighbourhoods with a location to play.

Does the City support Pickleball organized club play? Would the City rent various facilities for private league play?

The City would support organized play, however it would be offered and hosted by the municipality. The City does not rent facilities for programming that is already offered by the City. Ongoing rentals for this type of programming would not be permitted.

Are there additional Indoor courts?

Yes, here are some great opportunities additional indoor courts:

Pickering Football Club offers indoor pickleball play at the Soccer Centre. For more details, visit their website at pickeringfc.ca/pickleball.
South Pickering Seniors Club provides additional indoor play for adults 55+ at East Shore Community Centre. Membership is required. Call for more information at 905.420.5049.
