September 2, 2025 - Durham Region area municipalities are once again coming together in support of National Hunger Action Month this September to raise awareness, food donations, and funds to fight hunger in the community.
August 29, 2025 – Pickering Fire Services is reminding residents that smoking-related fires are entirely preventable, but only if smokers prioritize safety.
August 28, 2025 - The City of Pickering is launching a Shared E‑Scooter Pilot Program, offering residents a sustainable, convenient, and low-carbon way to navigate the growing community. This initiative supports the City’s long-term transportation vision by promoting flexible mobility choices.
The ban was implemented as a precautionary safety measure in response to extreme fire conditions caused by prolonged drought, high temperatures, and reduced air quality.
To help residents stay cool and safe during periods of extreme heat, the City of Pickering is introducing extended hours for select amenities during designated heat warnings.
July 18, 2025 - Today, the City of Pickering and the Town of Ajax notified Elexicon Corporation of our decision to conclude our Request for Proposal (RFP) process that had explored options with respect to our continued partial ownership of the utility. This notification formally concludes the process, which was initiated in July 2024.
July 2, 2025 – During last night’s Canada Day celebrations, the City of Pickering proudly announced that the highly-anticipated Pickering Heritage & Community Centre will be named the Dorsay Community & Heritage Centre, following a naming rights agreement.

June 4, 2025 – To celebrate Pickering’s 25th anniversary of becoming a city, Mayor Kevin Ashe, Members of Council, and City staff gathered in Esplanade Park to plant a silver maple tree – one of 25 being planted across all three wards to mark this milestone.
