April 27, 2025 – I am completely heartbroken by the devastating tragedy that occurred at the Lapu Lapu Day Festival in Vancouver. What was meant to be a joyous celebration of heritage, pride, and freedom, was shattered by unthinkable violence. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to all of the victims and their families, as well as the nearly million-strong Filipino-Canadians across our country.
April 24, 2025 – The City of Pickering has initiated a Ward Boundary Review to determine whether the new ward boundaries, adopted in 2021 and set to take effect for the 2026 Municipal Election, remain appropriate in light of evolving population growth and distribution.
April 22, 2025 – On behalf of the City of Pickering, its Members of Council, and residents, I extend my deepest condolences to all who mourn the passing of Pope Francis. He was not only a spiritual leader to Catholics and Christians worldwide, but also a symbol of humility, compassion, and social justice who inspired millions. His unwavering dedication to the most vulnerable, his calls for peace, and his profound acts of kindness transcended faith and borders, touching lives across the globe.
April 11, 2025 – The City of Pickering marked a significant milestone in its 25th anniversary celebrations with the unveiling of specially curated art banners, now prominently displayed on the exteriors of Pickering City Hall and the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (CHDRC).
March 31, 2025 – The City of Pickering is taking a stand against littering with an engaging new campaign designed to make community members think twice before they toss their trash.
March 28, 2025 – City staff will resume their participation in Council and Standing Committee meetings beginning with the Executive Committee Meeting on April 7, 2025. This decision follows the implementation of key measures through amendments to the Procedure By-law, passed at the March 24th Council meeting, intended to ensure a safe, respectful, and collaborative environment for staff and all participants.

The award celebrates municipalities, towns, and cities that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to supporting and enhancing festivals and events. Pickering’s recognition is a testament to its ongoing efforts in cultivating an atmosphere where cultural initiatives flourish, reinforcing its role as a dynamic and engaging community.
February 27, 2025 – On behalf of the City of Pickering and its Members of Council, I extend my sincerest congratulations to Premier Doug Ford on his re-election and third consecutive majority mandate from the people of Ontario. His government’s continued investment in the long-term health and prosperity of our province, along with its strategic plan to protect residents, businesses, and communities from President Trump’s economic sanctions, remain crucial for Ontario’s future.
February 26, 2025 - The 2025 Weight Restriction Season for City of Pickering roads begins March 1st and is set to end on April 30th. The actual end date will be determined following reviews of road and weather conditions toward the end of the Weight Restriction Season. Signs will be erected on all City roads where these weight restrictions apply.
