Commemorative Programs

The Commemorative Tree and Bench Program is temporarily on hold. This program invites the public to pay tribute to a loved one by purchasing a bench or tree for installation in a public park or open space. Please note that the City does not permit ashes or memorial items to be placed on or around the commemorative tree or bench.

The Commemorative Pet Memorial Program is available for residents to pay tribute to a loved pet by purchasing a memorial plaque for display at the Dunmoore Park Leash Free Area. Details below.

Commemorative Pet Memorial

Design & Installation

The plaque will be placed on a dog silhouette that is displayed along the fence at Dunmoore Leash Free Area.

The design of the plaque is customizable however we suggest including your Pet's name, years alive and a short sentence of not more than 165 characters.

A space is counted as a character and text only please.

Maintenance

If needed, plaques will be replaced by the City (at no charge to the applicant), within two years of the original installation. Replacements required after two years will be at the discretion of the City.

Thank you for your interest in the City of Pickering’s Commemorative Tree & Bench Program.

Due to high demand, ongoing construction activity, and material shortages, we are currently reviewing the program and are not accepting new applications at this time. This pause will help us focus on fulfilling existing commitments and exploring potential improvements to the program.
