Pickering, ON, September 29, 2021 – City of Pickering Animal Services staff are giving a local stray dog, named Bear, hope for the future as they are providing him with a new prosthetic leg.
Bear was picked up by Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville officers and brought to the Pickering Animal Shelter for safe keeping, following a stray dog call for the area of Woodbine Avenue and Vivian Road.

Pickering, ON, September 28, 2021 – The City of Pickering, together with the Indigenous Relationship Building Circle (IRBC), has approved the installation of an orange crosswalk at a prominent intersection in Pickering.
The commemorative crosswalk will stand to honour the lost children, survivors, their families, and communities affected by the residential school system.

Pickering, ON, September 27, 2021 – Today, Pickering Fire Services hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for its new Headquarters – Fire Station #1, located on Zents Drive.
Construction on this facility is currently underway and is expected to be complete by late 2022/early 2023.
Upon full build-out, the 21,000-square-foot facility will have two floors with three tandem truck bays, which will hold a pumper, ladder truck, and the Platoon Chief response vehicle.
