April 17, 2023 - The City of Pickering and Province of Ontario have recently completed the sale of 151 acres of provincial lands in Pickering’s Innovation Corridor to FGF Brands, for the development of a high-tech, food manufacturing campus, which will be known as the Wonderbrands Innovation Business Park.

In addition, Council recently approved FGF Brands’ (Caplink Limited) draft plan of subdivision application and zoning by-law amendment application to permit the food manufacturing campus. The first phase of development will consist of three manufacturing plants and a distribution centre, with an overall gross floor area of over 1,000,000 square feet and the creation of 1,000 new jobs, with another 2,000 jobs coming in the second phase. Once full build-out is complete, the business park will be the largest food manufacturing campus in the GTA, as well as one of the largest employers in Pickering with its 3,000 new jobs.

Curiosity is an art piece by the artist Hallie A. Ndorley, depicting a curious child lying on their stomach, gazing upon a turtle. This visual art mural was commissioned by the City of Pickering and the Cultural Advisory Committee, to celebrate Black Culture and local Black Artists.

This work was commissioned and created as part of Pickering’s I Am Ontario Youth Arts Showcase – Youth Art Challenge. The Challenge was offered with the support of the Ontario 150 Celebration Grant, to commemorate Ontario’s Sesquicentennial in 2017.

Full Circle has been created by utilizing past banner submissions from The Pickering Community Banner Program. The Banner Program celebrated the culture, heritage and beauty of our City.

This 92-year-old ash tree was cut down from where it originally stood, because of an infestation of Emerald Ash Borers living inside of it, killing it. As an invasive species originating in north-eastern Asia, these insects could have devastated the ash tree population in Pickering.

This is a dynamic art feature made from recycled materials portraying a monarch butterfly’s lifecycle. It was installed as part of an Amberlea Park enhancement project through Pickering’s Celebrating Sustainable Neighbourhoods Program.

The Pickering Rod and Gun Club, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the City of Pickering jointly donated the dock that sits behind this carved wooden statue. The statue itself depicts a young boy proudly showing off his humble catch. Blair Baker created this statue carving while he worked for the City of Pickering, after being asked to design something to hold the dock’s commemorative plaque.

The Area of Enchantment is a place of magic. It’s a place that caters to the child in each of us. This mystical trail meanders through a dense stand of trees along the Duffin’s Creek. Carvings of mythological creatures and characters adorn the trunks of dead trees as well as the damaged areas on living trees.

"Dreamscape" is a towering art piece located at Pickering Town Centre, Glenanna Blvd., Pickering made by Edward Falkenberg in 1999. As a part of the Paradise Revisited series, it is the largest piece in this series, standing with a total of 17 feet (5.2 metres) of stainless steel, resembling a utopian treehouse.
